Privacy Policy
Effective date: June 18, 2026
1. Who we are
Squiggle (“Squiggle,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is a real-time multiplayer draw-and-guess game operated by Compubility, LLC. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use the game, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using Squiggle you agree to the practices described here and in our Terms of Service.
2. Information we collect
We collect only what we need to run the game:
- Account information. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile identifier from Google. If you play as a guest, we create an anonymous account identified only by a randomly generated id and the username and avatar you choose — no email or real name is required.
- Profile data. Your chosen username, avatar, earned badges, level/XP, and (if you are a supporter) any custom drawing palettes you save.
- Gameplay content. Drawings you make, chat and guess messages you send, words you play and vote on, and the rooms you join. Chat messages are filtered for profanity before they are shown to other players.
- Gameplay statistics. Per-player counters used for badges, levels, and moderation (for example, games played, correct guesses, referrals, and a count of profanity filtered from your messages).
- Payment information. If you buy the Support Pack, payment is processed by Stripe. We do not receive or store your full card number. We retain a record of your purchase (a Stripe customer id, the entitlements granted, amount, and currency) so we can provide what you paid for.
- Analytics & technical data. We use PostHog to understand how the game is used (events such as games created/joined, guesses, sign-ups, and feature usage), along with standard technical data such as device/browser type and approximate activity timing.
3. How we use your information
- To run the game — create rooms, route players, score rounds, and show the scoreboard.
- To maintain your account, profile, badges, and level progression.
- To process and fulfill Support Pack purchases and grant the related cosmetic perks.
- To keep the game safe — filter profanity, track abuse, and enforce our Terms.
- To understand usage and improve features through analytics.
- To attribute referrals when you invite friends.
4. How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with service providers that help us operate the game, and only as needed:
- Google— authentication, if you choose to sign in with Google.
- Stripe— payment processing for the Support Pack.
- PostHog— product analytics.
- Our hosting and database providers (including Vercel, Railway, and MongoDB) which store and serve the application and its data.
- Other players— your username, avatar, drawings, guesses/chat, score, and supporter status are visible to others in any room you join. Public matches are visible to anyone who can find the room.
We may also disclose information if required by law, to enforce our Terms, or to protect the safety of our players and the service.
5. Children & the absence of parental controls
Squiggle is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). Squiggle currently has no parental controls, no age gate, and no content filtering beyond automated profanity masking in chat. Public matches let strangers draw, type guesses, and chat in real time, and we cannot guarantee that user-generated drawings or messages are appropriate for minors.
If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child under the applicable minimum age has provided us personal information, contact us at the address below and we will delete it. Parents should be aware that, until parental controls are introduced, supervision is the only way to control a minor’s experience in Squiggle.
6. Data retention
We keep your account and profile data for as long as your account exists. Gameplay content such as drawings and chat is retained as part of game records. Purchase records are retained as required for financial and legal recordkeeping. You may request deletion of your account and associated data as described below.
7. Your choices & rights
- You can play anonymously without providing an email or real name.
- You can edit your username and avatar at any time from your profile.
- Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal information, or to object to certain processing. To exercise these rights, contact us.
8. Security
We take reasonable measures to protect your information, but no method of transmission or storage is completely secure. Game state is held in memory on our realtime server and mirrored to our database; a server restart drops in-progress rooms.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the effective date above. Significant changes may be communicated in-app.
